×Sorbaronia is a fertile, inter-generic hybrid between Sorbus and Aronia.

In Newfoundland, and nearby St.-Pierre et Miquelon, the common combination SEEMS to be ×Sorbaronia x jackii Rheder [Photinia floribunda x Sorbus americana], at least on the rather shakey basis of sharply pointed leaves, and a prominent red leaf rachis.

×Sorbaronia x arsenii (Britton ex Arsene) G. N. Jones [Photinia floribunda x Sorbus decora] SHOULD also occur, since Miquelon is its TYPE locality. See the possible St. Alban's example below.

It would seem that ×Sorbaronia readily back-crosses with Sorbus. With each successive backcross, the results are thought to look more and more like "Sorbus". The most radical expressions of ×Sorbaronia would, thus, appear to be those that have avoided any backcrossing with Sorbus; presumably mostly F1 hybrids. However, it also seems possible that backcrossing with Aronia, if it occurs, might result in even MORE radical forms?
